From 1947 until 1998, when the tunnel through the Mannen mountain was built, this was the road to Uttakleiv.
The gravel road winds around the mountain Veggen, right by the sea. You are surrounded by beautiful Lofoten nature all the way.
You can either walk back and forth, make a round trip over the mountain on the cart road, or complete the round trip on flat ground by walking through the tunnel.
On each side of the tunnel, you will find a mailbox with reflective vests. Put on a vest and leave it in the mailbox on the other side of the tunnel.
It's worth noting that Uttakleiv is a popular destination for tourists visiting Lofoten. The area is known for its stunning beaches and hiking trails, and the road leading to Uttakleiv offers some of the most picturesque views in the region.
While the road is now closed to cars due to the tunnel, it's still accessible on foot or by bike.
